Daphne is a spontaneous, energetic, and outgoing person whose love of piano began with her grandfather, a concert violinist and musician himself. Deeply embodying his love of music, Daphne strives to inspire the same levels of achievement in young, curious, similarly interested and engaged students.
Originally from Washington, Daphne holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Mexico and a Masters from UTD. While studying to earn her masters, she also competed in classical piano and accompanied youth symphony orchestras in and around New Mexico while studying performance privately in Santa Fe. She began teaching in high school and has held concerts around the American southwest.
Daphne seeks to awaken the inner musician in students of all ages. A committed, pragmatic and focused yet extremely personable teacher, she loves children and believes students should have an active role in their progress. Her lessons involve specific assignments and skills to focus on. Though success in music requires consistent practice and attention to detail, she values genuine engagement with a well-chosen repertoire and encourages students to choose their own pieces. She genuinely engages with students, encouraging them to discover the joy in every piece and frequently even singing along! As a teacher, Daphne is engaging, enthusiastic, and patient. She seeks, above all, to teach her students to produce their own rich, unique sound through smooth, long, and expressive phrasing.
